Everyone else at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park were at the edge of the pavement, watching the sunset and taking pictures.  As I started to pack up my gear, I turned around and saw this kid, seemingly abandoned in a harsh land, with the last light of the sun illuminating the forbidding desert of the Funeral Mountains behind him.  I quickly took this shot, just as he was yawning, and seconds later his mother walked into the frame and picked him up.
